2011 Final Four Predictions
The first thing that we are going to do when we make our 2011 Final Four predictions is throw out the field. One of these 14 men are going to win this award unless all of a sudden, the NCAA turns around and rules one of the four teams ineligible and slots some other team in its place.
The next order of business is eliminating the players from the teams that we really don’t feel are going to even be in the title game. That means you, Connecticut Huskies and VCU Rams. And yes, that immediately takes away the favorite to win this award, Kemba Walker. We know that Walker is probably the only guy that could win Final Four MVP without actually winning the National Championship, but he doesn’t stand a chance if he’s not playing in the game on Monday night.
For the next step in our Final Four predictions, we’ll take away both Brandon Knight and Josh Harrellson. Knight’s odds just aren’t strong enough in this situation. Kentucky is +140 right now to win the NCAA Tournament, and you can’t possibly argue that Knight would be that much of an odds on favorite from his own team to win the award if the Cats were to be cutting down the nets.
Harrellson is largely looked at as a giant stiff on the inside, and though he has had some nice games in this tournament, there is no way that he would be voted the game’s MVP.
Still, we tend to believe that Butler isn’t going to be able to win this game either, so we’ll eliminate the likes of Shelvin Mack and Matt Howard as well, though we think that Mack has some decent odds at +650 that might be worth using as a hedge just in case the Bulldogs actually do win the whole enchilada this year.
Terrence Jones is the man that we are going to pick right now for our 2011 Final Four predictions due to the fact that he is really set to explode. This is a man that averaged 15.8 points and 8.7 boards per game this year, and he is also a dynamo on the defensive end of the court with 70 blocks. He has faced a tremendous set of big men to date in this tournament, something that he won’t be facing in the Final Four. There has to be at least a one in eight chance that Jones is the man that is honored at the end of this tournament.
