These two have had a war of words as opposing coaches on the 12th season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” It has now spilled over to the cage.
St-Pierre (20-2) is a heavy -500 favorite and has already had four successful defenses of the belt he won from Matt Serra in 2008. That fight came in Montreal as well.
The 29-year-old is at the top of his game and considered by some to be the best ‘pound-for-pound’ fighter in the sport. He is great on his feet, on takedowns and almost every other aspect.
The 33-year-old Koscheck (15-4) is the deserved +300 underdog, but that doesn’t mean he’s not dangerous. He already had a shot against St. Pierre back in 2007 for UFC 74, losing in a unanimous decision. Koscheck has won his last three fights, with the latest coming in May against Paul Daley.
Koscheck is a former college wrestling champion and is the fifth-ranked welterweight according to Sherdog. He needs to be aggressive and has the wrestling skills to take on St. Pierre, but it would be shocking if the man they call ‘GSP’ disappoints the home fans.
